Busy City Of London

Good morning London pork lovers! Hope you’re feeling ready for some captivating tales about our recent hog-roasting hi-jinks! For the first time in a good while we went out to the docklands last week for, of all things, a party on a boat moored up near Galleon’s Reach. Not every day you get to cook on a boat, but then it’s obviously not every day most people get up close and personal with a juicy hot pork sandwich, and most of the guests looked about as excited to see us and the Spitting Pig machine as we were to get on their hosts’ boat!

It was a vast thing, an old converted fishing vessel that had been gutted and fitted out for parties and raves – for once we didn’t have the most impressive hunk of well tooled industrial steel. But we still had the best flavours and the tastiest roasted meat for miles around, so the partygoers ended up well fed and highly satisfied with the spread we laid on. We were out on the deck, with a beautiful view out over the water to Canary Wharf as the sun set, but they’d made a pretty good job of converting the inside too – 2 huge rooms, one split across 2 levels, and various other little suites and nooks with bars and seating. There was quite a walk along the dock to get up to the where the boat was moored, and many of the revellers made a beeline for us as they came up the gangplank – apparently, the way the wind was blowing, they’d been able to smell our rich roasting aromas the whole way up to the boarding point!

Another good one we’ve had recently was last Thursday, which we spent out towards the end of the Central line in Northolt. We had a booking for a double birthday party, and a little while after we turned up we realised that the two birthday boys were identical twins. Identical twins with a sense of humor, fortunately, or it might all have got a little embarrassing – I was introduced to the first, Ben, and when his brother Sam came in later I assumed (I think fairly enough, under the circumstances) that it was the guy I’d met earlier in the day.

From the sounds of it, they had a bit of a reputation as a pair of pranksters – I heard talks from various friends of theirs of countless tricks they’d had played on them over the years. Apparently after a while they’d learnt the little character traits that you could use to distinguish between the two. Well, I can tell you one thing – they both seemed identically enthusiastic for our delicious tender hot roast pork and the home made stuffing we served up with it, and they both managed to put away a lot of it – at least I think they did. It might have been that one of them was exceptionally greedy and the other barely ate for all I could tell between them!
