Hog Roast Guildford is regularly asked to cater parties and events at sports clubs and we’re right in the middle of the cricket season so that includes various local and national cricket clubs too. Chris asked us to provide the catering for a function at Normandy Cricket Club recently, which can be found on Hunts Hill Road in Guildford’s Normandy. Normandy Cricket Club (also known as Normandy CC) is only two miles from Guildford but has a lovely, secluded location in the Surrey Hills and with a well-maintained Clubhouse and grounds, is an ideal venue for various functions. Catering inside can seat around 80 guests or have 200 standing, but on this day, we would be outside, catering with a view, right by the cricket pitch.
For the 100 guests, Chris asked Hog Roast Guildford to provide our Menu 1 of hog roast rolls, which we call pigs in buns, as well as veggie kebabs. The pigs in buns themselves, we lovingly create by preparing the local meat at your venue, so it’s nice and fresh, and then we roast it for several hours until perfectly cooked, both inside and out. After the meat has a short rest, we’re ready to carve, and we fill trays with the salty crackling and slivers of meat, which are then stuffed inside floury bread rolls and wraps, topped with our apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing, which are both homemade, and voila – sumptuous pigs in buns Hog Roast Guildford-style! For the veggie kebabs, which are suitable for vegetarians, we skewer and grill yummy halloumi cheese pieces as well as vegetables such as mushroom, mixed peppers, tomatoes, red onion, and courgette. Need a vegan option instead? We can just leave out the cheese! We have all kinds of dishes for any guests with dietary needs, as we love to ensure everyone is fed well at your event.
Our team roasted a gorgeous hog on the day and with a perfect outlook to watch the cricket from our gazebo, it was a pleasure to cater with a view and then serve our scrumptious fare around 7.30pm.
