Hog roast were in our home town catering for a retirement party on Friday for a wonderful lady who had been a dinner lady at the local school for the past 50 years! The head teacher contacted us and said the children were organising an out door surprise assembly for the dinner lady and asked us if we would do the catering, we were asked to do a barbeque and to cater for three hundred, we arrived there nice and early and set up our equipment in the yard to knock the dinner lady of the scent the head said that the children were bringing packed lunches into school that day for a picnic and no dinner would need to be made that day, so the staff were going to give the kitchen a good spring clean instead. Soon the yard was filled with a wonderful aroma and the teachers brought the dinner nanny out side and she was so over whelmed when she saw all the children holding banners wishing her well and the huge birthday cake the children had made her.
Hog roast hire set off straight to work and had burgers and sausage on the go we soon had a long line of hungry children and teachers too! Burgers and onions with ketchup were a particular favourite along with sausage and mushroom, we also made a batch of seafood stir fry and this went down really well along with our glazed vegetable kebabs. The children sang songs and the head said a lovely farewell speech to the dinner lady praising her loyalty and hard work to the school over the past 50 years some of the children’s parents attended as they too were served by the dinner lady years ago. It really was a wonderful day and we had a fantastic time the children were so sweet, we were really touched this week as we received a wonderful hand made card in the post from the children it really made our day and the card now sits proudly on our office wall, little things like that make our job so satisfying…
