Yes in the past we have used free range pigs on many occasions. If our clients would prefer us to use free range pigs then it’s not a problem and we are happy to do this. Please just mention this when making your enquiry.
Quality meat is always a very important consideration in any sort of cooking. It is something that the TV chefs have been keen to advocate for some years now and with good reason. Good quality meat makes a difference to the results, it’s a fact. An animal that has been treated well and fed properly is going to result in a superior tasting meat. This will not only mean that the results of your meal are going to be much better than if you had used inferior meat but your guests will appreciate the extra mile that you have gone to deliver great tasting results.
Of course, using good quality free range pigs is nothing new to hog roasters. The very first hog roast would of course have been of a free range variety and these would have been enjoyed in some of the grander surroundings of medieval Britain no doubt. Whether the people enjoying this very early hog roast dinners would have been too concerned about the origin of the meat is not known but it is not in question that they would have enjoyed every last mouthful of what must have been a real treat back in those days.
People are very particular about their food these days, and with good reason. The recent scares over just exactly what sort of meat that we have been eating sometimes has made people even more aware of the need to learn more about what they eat and where it has come from. This is something to bear in mind next time you are considering holding a special event or function. Do you really want to inflict food of an inferior quality and unknown origin on your guests? After all, if you are opting for a bog standard caterer who believes that pizzas and sandwiches constitute a great catering solution then that may just be what you are letting yourself in for. But you really don’t have to, especially when hog roast gives you such a great tasting and quality alternative, and at such a competitive price!
You may be interested to learn about just how much care and attention the hog roast caterer puts into making sure your event is a success. Choosing the pig for your event is probably one of the most aspects of their work as it is a lot more involved than you may have thought. Did you believe that a hog roast caterer simply turns up at the butcher’s on the high street and picked up any old pig? No, they carefully choose the perfect pig just for your event. Size is a prime concern of course as they will carefully consider how many people will be attending your event. Then there is the fat level on the pig. This plays a very important role in the cooking process by imparting extra flavour and preventing the meat from drying out, thus ensuring a succulent flavour every time. If you thought the chef settled for anything less than quality with hog roasting, think again!
