To paraphrase the US postal service motto, neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail shall keep the Hog Roast Brixton roastmen from their appointed rounds. Fortunately there were none of these when we catered an outdoor engagement party for 100 guests the other day – but otherwise it was typical February weather, i.e. cold enough to force the proverbial brass monkey to postpone starting a family.
Our Roastmasters are dauntless, however, and our gazebos were in place to defy the elements if rain or snow or sleet or hail did put in an appearance. Any wimp can cook outdoors in sunny weather, but there’s a reason we keep going all year round. Hog-roasts in spring and summer are all well and good, but in the deep midwinter is when you need Hog Roast Brixton to get outside some slow-roasted pig-in-a-bun.
We like to think our cheerful and helpful staff, warming fare and the cozy glow of crackling have saved many an out-of-season garden party from being a wash-out – and when the cold wind blows, near our roasting machine becomes a very popular place for guests to gather, and if the skies do open we can carry on regardless.
A great time was had by all on this occasion in spite of the thermometer and we would certainly love to return to Brixton in more clement weather one day. We wish the very best for the future for the happy couple and all our new friends there. If we should be invited back for the wedding… well, Shakespeare said that spring time is the only pretty ring time, but even if you should choose a wet Wednesday in November, you can count on us.
