It was an early start for us on Saturday and we were so afraid of sleeping in that we all set two alarm clocks! A huge Anniversary and catering for six hundred in total a silver wedding with guests arriving for all over the world and the couple wanted to put on a how and really go all out to impress their guests and what better way than to of course have a pig or two or three! In fact three pigs were ordered and that is the reason we wanted to be there nice and early so the pigs had time to cook as pigs take a good few hours to cook. Upon arrival Hog Roast set up the machines placed the pigs on the took a sigh of relief now they had plenty of time to get the other dishes in order.
To go with the pig we were making some crackling and the crackling is just amazing and really is a must when serving pork, we had over six hundred buns to slice open and a mountain of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, spring onions and beetroot to chop as well as that we had some dips and a nice batch of apple sauce to make we make everything nice and fresh on the day even the buns were a huge task our baker had been up in the early hours baking and we collected the buns on the way and they were still quite warm and so fresh and delicious! On the last half hour before the pigs were cooked we scored the skin added the oil and rubbed in the salt to produce the most amazing crackling, Hog Roast Hire are famous for their crackling and it always goes down really well.
we sliced the meat and plated up the crackling then sliced the buns and placed the meat inside the guests helped them selves to apple sauce, dips, mustard and salad and they all enjoyed the food, it was a lovely day and there wasn’t a slice of meat left at the end more than satisfied customers…
